In an article titled "Ovnis en Jujuy" published a few years ago, the editors of the magazine Gaceta OVNI, discussing the UFO-prone northern Argentina, made a small cross-border detour to discuss unknown phenomena in Bolivia. One such case was a story told by a young woman named Dina Angulo that her grandfather experienced a UFO near Villazon, Bolivia, about seventy years ago.
In the spring of 1930, Ms. Angulo's grandfather lived on a remote farm in a mountain valley near the village of Tupiza, a hundred miles from the crash site of a UFO in Tarikha in 1978.
Part of the hard, ruthless life of an Andean farmer was to find his animals on steep mountain trails to bring them home and butcher them. Since the ice from the melting glaciers caused the rivers to swell, the farmer was cut off from the overflowing river, and he had to spend the night under the cold stars. Accompanied by a dog, the man hastily built a shelter and lit a fire, and soon found himself surrounded by the very goats and donkeys he had gone in search of.
Suddenly, Mrs. Angulo's grandfather saw the entire mountain landscape illuminated by a powerful light. He had never seen such brightness, even in daylight. Terrified, he ran away to find shelter under low trees. His animals scattered in all directions, and a strange light source absorbed everything with its supernatural radiance.
About twenty meters from his hiding place, the farmer was able to see four humanoid figures, which he described as agile and capable of making long jumps. The light suddenly went out, and with it the strange little men disappeared. According to Dina Angulo, two days later her grandfather was found chained to the scene in fear, seized by a nervous state. Only as time passed, he was able to recall the details of his ordeal, which preceded the beginning of the modern UFO era by seventeen years.
The editors of Gaceta OVNI also mention another hotspot of Bolivian UFOs: the salt desert known as Salar de Uyuni, a vast uninhabited space between the Real Cordillera and the Western Andes. According to local residents, somewhere in these salt marshes there is a "dark depression", which, apparently, is the focus of intense light, and in this place you can see strange glowing bodies entering and exiting the desert.
