La 31 octombrie 1971, în Chile, 2 martori – Hernan Cuevas Hormanecha si Eduardo Fuentes au vazut deasupra oceanului un aparat din care a iesit un fascicul de lumina, ce a inceput sa descrie cercuri ca si cum ar fi cautat ceva. Marea si stancile erau luminate iar fasciculul de lumina era curb.
