Description:
The duration of aiming is two to three minutes. The weather is generally clear with some clouds.
Two witnesses saw a bright orange light in the sky, slowly moving from east to west. It was moving at a constant speed, rising from New Plymouth into the clouds. There was no sound associated with the light, which attracted the attention of witnesses. The witnesses are familiar with the flight paths of local air transport and knew that the direction of flight was unusual because it was not a normal flight path. The light significantly increased its speed, gained altitude and disappeared.
20 minutes after the observation, witnesses clearly heard a mail plane flying over New Plymouth, although it was not visible due to clouds.

Description:

Two witnesses saw a bright orange light in the sky travelling slowly from east to west. It moved at a steady pace, climbing away from New Plymouth into clouds. There was no sound associated with the light, which caught the witnesses’ attention. The witnesses are familiar with the flight paths of local air traffic, and knew the direction of flight was unusual as it was not a normal flight path. The light increased speed considerably as it gained height and disappeared.
20 minutes after the sighting, the witnesses clearly heard a postal plane pass over New Plymouth, although it was not visible because of cloud.
