Initial data
Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2009
Time: 6:45 a.m.
Location: Thames, North Island
Features/Characteristics: triangular formation of white lights
Description:
The duration of observation is approximately 1 ½ minutes. Clear frosty conditions; it's dark outside; it's windless.
The witness, a nurse, was looking west towards the Thames Hospital (in the direction of the Thames Bay) from the deck of her house.
She noticed a large triangular configuration of white lights, with several lights on each side forming a clear triangular outline. The object slowly descended from the sky from the southwest, descending very low over the town. Then the object made a turn at an acute angle, as if it had turned around or turned on a plane, and again rose into the sky at an angle of about 30 degrees from its original descent path.
In front of the witness, the light just suddenly went out or "turned off".
Ufocus NZ Comment:
The witness's description of the triangular formation of lights making a sharp or turning turn is a common characteristic of the mysterious "flying triangles" observed all over the world.

Description:
Duration of sighting approximately 1 ½ minutes. Clear frosty conditions; dark outside; no wind.
The witness, a nurse, was looking west towards Thames Hospital (in the direction of the Firth of Thames) from the decking of her home. She observed a large triangular configuration of white lights, with several lights on each side forming a clear triangular outline. The object descended slowly out of the sky from the southwest, coming down very low over the township. The object then performed an acute-angled turn, as if pivoting or turning on a plane, and ascended into the sky again at an approximate 30 degree angle from its initial track of descent. As the witness watched, the lights just suddenly went out or ‘switched off’.
Ufocus NZ comment:
The witness’s description of a triangular formation of lights performing an acute or pivotal turn is a common characteristic of the mysterious ‘flying triangles’ sighted worldwide.
