Description:
Clear sky; stars are visible. The duration of aiming is approximately 3-4 seconds.
The only witness was in a car between Foxton and Levine, heading south, when he saw a light low in the sky. He was moving away from it in a southerly direction.
The light moved like a shooting star, but did not leave a "streak". The witness reported that the light was "dim" or "flat" in brightness, but was significantly larger than the star.
Shortly after, a witness saw the plane; it was clearly visible, but moved "at a snail's pace" compared to the observed light.

Description:
Clear sky; stars visible. Duration of sighting approx 3-4 seconds.
The sole witness was in car between Foxton and Levin heading south, when he saw a light that was low in the sky. It was heading away from him in southerly direction.
The light was moving like a shooting star but leaving no ‘streak’. The witness reported the light was ‘dull’ or ‘flat’ in brilliance, but was considerably larger than a star.
The witness subsequently saw an aircraft shortly afterwards; it was clearly visible, but was travelling “at snail’s pace” in comparison to the observed light.
