V. N. Kornev's report on the observation of AYA in the village. The Upper Bridge of the Porkhovsky district. Pskov region .
Being on agricultural work in the collective farm "Zarya" of the Pskov region on September 12, 1985, the students of our squad in full force observed a strange atmospheric phenomenon.
At 22:15 in the north, a little to the right of the dipper of the Big Dipper, we saw a glowing pale yellow cone. It was cloudy, so there was no light source there. The contours of the beam were clear, at the edges the intensity of the glow was stronger and decreased towards the central part. The light stopped abruptly, forming a regular truncated cone with a convex lower base.
Then the lower base of the cone dissolved, it became like a flashlight beam. Then it disappeared completely.
All this time, there was a bluish ball in the haze, larger than the full moon, under the cone. He didn't get into the cone beam.
The ball-cone system seemed voluminous. The phenomenon seemed large in scale, but significantly removed from the place of observation. The center of the phenomenon was at the level of the bucket BM. The distance, even approximate, I do not dare to determine. It was impossible to determine whether the area was illuminated by the beam, but from an observation point it was impressive that the light cone barely reaches the ball.
The visible glow was observed from 22.13 to 22.16. After the cone faded, the ball glowed for some time, and the stalemate slowly faded. We cannot specify the beginning of the phenomenon precisely, because we saw it almost in the last stage.
