INFORMATION SHEET of the results of the observation of an abnormal atmospheric phenomenon.

1. Observation time: May 15, 1981 01.30 - 04.00.

2. Place of observation: the intersection of Dunacharsky St., etc. Culture of the Vyborg district. the city of Leningrad.

3. Observers: inspectors of the traffic patrol service of the Vyborg district Traffic Police. Sergeant RUDDER V.A. and Sergeant SHKAROBA V.I.

4. The nature of the observed phenomenon:

At 01.30 we saw a smoky zigzag trail ascending from the house No. 3 on ave. Cultures (Fig. 1) Initially thought that it was a regular "rocket" that was sometimes launched. Moreover, something dark could be seen at the top of the trail. However, then they became wary. Two faint traces in the form of "whiskers" departed from the rocket. A brightly glowing oval appeared between the whiskers (Fig. 2).

As the rocket moved, the glowing object increased its size and brightness. He was moving, as it seemed to us, in the direction of Vasilievsky Island. So it was until 02.00.

We didn't notice when the rocket separated from the glowing oval, but we saw that

she went upstairs and disappeared. The oval, continuing to expand, lost its clear outlines and remained in the form of clouds glowing around it, which could be observed until 04.00

(fig. 3).

5. Estimation of the size of the observed object: From very small (like an ordinary rocket) to large (not to cover with two palms of outstretched hands).

6. Impact on technical means: (patrol car and portable radio station RG-70) was not observed.

7. No impact on observers was noted. The possibility of linking the phenomenon with road traffic and other accidents that took place at the specified time needs to be checked, for example, the death of a woman under the wheels of a tram (the beginning of the district Belyanskaya M.M.) in others.

8. Meteorological conditions: A clear moonlit night, the wind is weak.
