As a result of a mysterious series of riots, the villagers of Kampung Kepis have been on edge for two weeks now. Disturbing incidents include unexplained knocks on doors and the appearance of a ghostly figure resembling a man.
The situation took an eerie turn on Wednesday evening, when Haslinda Hassim, a 54-year-old resident, said she witnessed a mysterious creature near her house at about 21:40.
According to Haslinda, her 17-year-old child had previously urged her to close all doors and windows, citing riots in the neighboring house.
"My child came home with a friend and asked me to open the kitchen door. Suddenly we heard a sound like something had fallen or fallen near the house," Haslinda said when she was greeted at her house.
From her elevated point of view, she observed something that looked like an object falling, which led her to witness a strange ghostly creature that seemed to be crawling.
"At first I brushed it off, thinking it was just my eyes playing tricks on me–a kind of illusion. But when I saw him again, he looked straight into my eyes, got up and quickly rushed to the main road, disappearing into the darkness," she said.
After that disturbing night, Haslinda's house became the center of these mysterious riots, which occurred four more times.
The last episode took place in the silence of the predawn hours, around 2.30 am.
During this eerie visit, scratching sounds were heard on the walls, accompanied by sounds as if something or someone was trying to open one of the windows.
Residents, including 67-year-old Mariam Yohit, also reported similar cases: her daughter witnessed a ghostly creature after she heard the fence of the house shaking.
"This is the fifth time our house has been disturbed. Last night, around 9 p.m., at home with two children and a grandson, we heard the gate of the house shaking. My daughter, Norinnor Mohd Noor, 38, looked through the curtains and saw a ghostly creature lurking near the house.
She screamed: "Someone is there!" before rushing to open the front door and get out, but then the ghostly creature moved towards the house," she said.
Mariam added that her daughter told how she heard rapid footsteps before the mysterious creature disappeared into thin air.
"Family members, relatives and other villagers surrounded our house, but did not find or notice anything," she said.
Hilir Mohammad Sah Suleiman, Chairman of the Kampung Kepis Development and Security Committee, expressed hope for an immediate end to the alarming events.
"These riots have been going on for more than a week and have caused fear and chaos among the local population so much that some of them are afraid to go to the toilet in their homes to relieve themselves," he said.

Residents, including Mariam Johit, 67, also reported similar experiences, with her daughter witnessing the shadowy entity after hearing the house’s fence being shaken.
“This is the fifth time our home has been disturbed. Last night, at home with my two children and grandchild, at around 9pm, we heard the house’s front gate shake.
“My daughter, Noreennor Mohd Noor, 38, looked through the curtains and saw the shadowy entity lurking outside the house.
“She screamed ‘there’s someone mak’ before she rushed to open the front door and went out, but then the shadowy entity moved to the side of the house,” she said.
Mariam added that her daughter recounted hearing rapid footsteps before the mysterious entity vanished into thin air.
“Family members, relatives and other villagers had surrounded our house but did not find nor spot anything,” she said.
Kampung Kepis Hilir Development and Safety Committee chairman Mohammad Sah Sulaiman hoped for an immediate end to the unsettling events.
“This disturbance has been going on for more than a week now, and it has caused fear and chaos among the local folk, so much so some of them are afraid to go to the toilet in their own homes to relieve themselves,” he said.
