L.A. Mamoylova writes to the Commission on:
I read the last two notes about UFOs in the Trud newspaper and decided to report an interesting observation.
It was, however, a long time ago, before 1969. I lived then in Krasnoye Selo (more precisely in Horse Racing) near Leningrad.
In the middle of August, at about 10 p.m., I went outside on household business. There was no moon or stars in the sky. Suddenly, somehow, everything lit up. Involuntarily, I looked at the sky and saw at the zenith a motionless white dim spot 6-7 cm in diameter, which turned into a brightly glowing one right before my eyes, and colored stripes of pink, silver-gray, and blue appeared all over the dome from this point to the horizon. The stripes were not wide, alternating up to 20 cm in color, gradually they dimmed, turned white and everything was gone.It all lasted no more than 5 minutes.
I asked the neighbors if anyone else had seen it, but no one left the house at that time.
On occasion, I tell my friends, but somehow I couldn't get around to asking competent people what it could be.
