Initial data
From a letter to the Commission on:
Observation from the window of the 3rd floor.
Above the roofs of the houses there was a bright spot with a small tail, shaped like a falling drop, but in a horizontal position. A lump-shaped body was observed in front, which, together with a plume spot, slowly flew in a direction from west to east. The body and the train had a clear edge.
After a few seconds, the plume, as if breaking through the shell, began to spread rapidly across the sky, simultaneously moving behind the ball in the same direction.
The glow decreased and scattered across the sky. The balloon disappeared behind the roofs of the houses. The trail from the tail shone for a long time.
The whole phenomenon was observed for 10 minutes.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
