Initial data
On the evening of 09/15/179, an eyewitness observed a phenomenon that, according to him, can be explained as the aurora borealis. At this time, in the northeastern part of the firmament, a strip of clear sky of bluish-greenish tones appeared between the edge of clouds and the horizon line, emanating as if from a single point located below the horizon. In the plane of the rays, narrow "membranes" were noticeable, which had a darker background compared to the whitish color of the ray. The sun had not yet set at that moment and was above the horizon. It was about 18-19 o'clock.
Hypotheses
The Aurora (Northern lights)
Glow (luminescence) of the upper layers of the atmospheres of the planets with the magnetosphere due to their interaction with charged particles of the solar wind.
In a very limited area of the top of atmosphere radiance can be caused by low energy charged particles of solar wind entering the polar ionosphere over the North and South polar Caspi. In the Northern hemisphere, the cusp auroras can be observed over Svalbard caribou watch.
