From the window of a train traveling from Leningrad to Adler, passengers observed an object floating in the air when the train was in the Rostov region. According to the description of one of the eyewitnesses, the object appeared in the eastern part of the sky around 20-30 Moscow time and seemed to him to be a cylinder tilted with its axis to the earth's surface at an angle of about 45 degrees. The azimuth of the viewing angle was about 60 degrees. The object seemed to be hanging at a very high altitude. Its apparent size (along the axis) was about 3/4 of the disk of the full moon. The ratio of length to width is about 4:1.

Interestingly, to most observers, the "cylinder" seemed to be located at one point of the celestial sphere, as if "tied" to the train for the entire period of observation, despite the tangible distance traveled by the train during this time. However, it seemed to some observers that the object had a significant movement in the sky.

In the rays of the sun that had not yet set, the object glowed silvery-white. In the middle of the "cylinder" there was a narrow strip, which had a duller, grayish color. after about 40 minutes - 1 hour, a corolla (or halo) was observed in the lower part of the "cylinder", also silvery-white in color, but with a darker imprint compared to the color of the object itself. The object was observed until 22-30. shortly before that time, clouds appeared, in which the object periodically disappeared, and then completely disappeared into a solid cloud cover.
