A report on the observation of an unusual object by A.M. Tsvetkov in Leningrad:
In the winter of 1976, I observed the flight of a strange object over our neighborhood. I don't remember the month or the date of the event at all. I only remember that a few days after the flight, a small note appeared in the newspapers with information about this event.
That evening, around 19:00, I was walking with my little daughter near my house. The weather was moderately frosty, there were no stars and no moon in the sky. Perhaps the wind was blowing. I heard a sound similar to the sound of a rocket being fired, raised my head and saw a cylindrical object flying across the sky. It felt like a kind of three-dimensional body with a clearly distinguishable contour. Apparently, he appeared from behind house No. 41.2 and flew along a horizontal trajectory, slightly deviating to the southwest (from the observer). The object was observed at an angle of 45-50 degrees to the horizon. The front part of it glowed orange-red, and the nose part was the brightest, from which splashes (or sparks) of the same color flew apart. The tail part of the object remained dark, the transition from the illuminated part to the dark one occurred smoothly. In general, the brightness of the glow was average. The brightness of the sparks also decreased towards the paraphyria, turning into the darkness of the evening sky.
I am not able to compare the flight speed with anything, I perceived it as average. The visible dimensions of the object, according to my assessment, can be compared with the TU-154 aircraft at an altitude of 200-300 m and located at a distance of about 500 m from the observer.
I watched the flight of the object for 4-5 seconds until it disappeared behind the house.
I did not experience any unpleasant sensations, there was only a feeling of surprise and curiosity. I have never seen such objects in the past.
