On June 20-30, 1976, we were in the Caucasus in the Krasnaya Polyana district. More precisely, we did the route S. Michelrint + 03. The Ritz. On about June 25, we descended from Mount Akhachha (?) (I don't remember exactly) at the source of the Gega River.

At 20.00-20.30 after sunset, it was already getting dark, the following phenomenon was observed in the east from the Main Caucasian Ridge - first above the horizon (there it is the horizon of mountains), (we were about 600 m high) perhaps the distance could not be determined far away, a brightly glowing dot appeared, the angular changes were larger than the largest star, it seemed that it was slowly shifting to the left-up, barely noticeable, like the hands of a clock, and gradually dimmed.

A sphere of light separated from it in the form of a thin shell and began to slowly grow that it was approaching us. As it approached, it began to fade quite noticeably after a while + this is about 3-5 minutes after the start of everything, or rather, after we noticed it.

Simultaneously with the fading of the sphere - it then grew about 30 - 40 of the horizon, the luminous dot began to dim. (it has moved no more than 2-3 degrees to the left upwards, i.e. to the north-east. The sphere also had a bright "rim" and a faintly noticeable halo.

After another 3-4 minutes after the start of the rapid extinction, all these things were already barely noticeable, and after a while they disappeared.

Some additions. Opposite the sun that has already set, about 30 to 40 minutes after sunset, this phenomenon appeared (this is the east). The weather on this and subsequent days was quite clear.
