Initial data
Riyako Luba writes to the AIA Commission:
On December 19, 1977, from about 19 to 24 hours, we observed an interesting phenomenon.
In the area of south-west Moscow, two white-green "clouds" in the form of plates were visible in the black sky, glowing as if from within (such as luminescent). one of them was a little narrower.
For 2 hours, the large spot remained unchanged, which we noticed relative to the antenna opposite the 9-storey building.
Then the spot began to narrow and its center moved slightly up relative to the antenna.
After 24 hours, we did not observe this phenomenon. At 7 a.m. on December 20, in the places where these spots were at night, there were, as it were, glowing traces of these greenish spots.
Today, December 21 at 7 a.m., according to the stories of our friends, there was another such luminous spot.
There are 8 eyewitnesses.
Hypotheses
Light sources on clouds
Lasers, searchlights, car headlights and other light sources of sufficient power can form a column of light in a dusty or foggy atmosphere, various patterns on low clouds, fog or haze. Also, the rays can highlight parts of the cloud, objects or birds, giving them bizarre shapes.
Searchlights can shine with one beam, several. They can be stationary, move, and also form spinning carousels on the clouds, which can change shape and color.
It often seems that the light source is located at the point where the beam hits the cloud, and not vice versa.
