Jacques Duclercq, chronicler and advisor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy (from memoirs):
"On the night of All Saints.".. For a quarter of an hour, a flaming object like an iron beam, long and equal in size to half the moon, was observed in the sky. It was visible very clearly, and suddenly this strange object began to spin, spin and twist like a clock spring - and soared to the sky."
