Initial data
1957, August 13, approx. 13 hours (places. time), duration About 11 hours
Grendaldia, the settlement of Niakornarssuk (Niagornarssuk)
150-200 witnesses, all Eskimos
The UFO slowly approached from the east (from the ice area), being "higher than planes usually fly." The object, according to eyewitnesses, was larger than the plane. Presumably it was at least 50 km away; so four people who kayaked 10 km to the east (!) continued to see it in the eastern part of the sky. The color of the UFO was "aluminum", and even in daylight the object shone brightly.
When the sun set, it shone brighter; the light came from a bluish-green spot on its left side and from a red one on its right. Judging by the immobility of these spots, the object did not rotate.
The UFO had an elliptical shape. Witnesses believe that perhaps the reason for this was the angle of view, whereas the actual shape of the object is a disk, "as if composed of two plates."
Witness V., comparing with the position of the radio antenna at 19 o'clock, determined that the UFO was moving back and forth, like a pendulum.
In the evening he slowly got up and by midnight he was gone.
