In the summer of 1871, in late August or early September, I was with a group of other artists in the village of Pleshchevo near Uglich, on the banks of the Yukhot River, which flows into the Volga.

One morning I went nearby to draw a clearing I had chosen in the forest. He worked with passion. around 11-12 o'clock in the afternoon, I suddenly experienced an unpleasant feeling - as if someone was watching me, which caused unaccountable anxiety. looking up from my work, I noticed a silver disk hanging over the birches about 300 meters away, near the Uleyka River.

The upper part of the disk, which resembled an inverted saucer, had a kind of illuminated dome, which was poorly visible, rather guessed.

The disc hung motionless, with no sound or lighting effects. I saw him for 3-5 minutes and I did not notice how he disappeared, because despite the unpleasant depressing impression, I continued to work. 

When he disappeared, I went out into a nearby large open clearing, looked for him, but I didn't see him anywhere.
