The researchers found during excavations of the necropolis of Kyz-Aul near Kerch burial year-old child with a forcibly deformed skull, which dates back to II century ad, said the Fund "Archaeology".
"The interesting discoveries in the necropolis of Kyz-Aul to celebrate the burial of the infant of the second century of our era. Its singularity lies in the fact that the deceased in such a barbaric tradition was severely deformed skull", the report said. Buried lay to the East in a dirt grave without the wood plate overlap. Archaeologists believe that it was a boy, who at the time of death was not more than two years, since his skull is still not overgrown fontanelles. "Accordingly, his head has been deformed almost immediately after birth. Deformation of skulls is more frequent in the Sarmatian, especially late, and is one of the signs identify them," — said the archaeologists.
The discovery of artificially deformed skulls were made by the founder of the Bosporan archaeology Field Dobroksom in 1826, in the necropolis of the Cimmerian Bosporus, in the district of Kerch. Cranial deformation, most likely, was carried out to demonstrate social status. It was believed that it led to increased aggressiveness. Thus, the boy was destined to become a warrior, a defender of the Bosporan Kingdom, the researchers note. As told to archaeologists, for supporters of paleocontact such skulls are irrefutable proof of aliens visiting the Earth, therefore the grave is called "tomb of the alien"
