AirCar can transform from a car to an airplane and back. Now it is a working prototype.
The AirCar flying car made the first long-distance flight in history for this type of vehicle.
The 35-minute flight from Nitra to Bratislava was made on June 28. The distance between these cities is 96 km, which, taking into account the settlements encountered, results in about 1 hour by car. Flying by car, as we can see, is almost twice as fast.
The video also captures the transformation process AirCar from an airplane state to an automobile one. This takes about three minutes.
In its current form, the AirCar Prototype 1 is equipped with a 160 hp BMW engine. There is also a parachute. The machine has already shown the ability to fly at an altitude of up to 2500 m at a speed of up to 190 km / h.
The AirCar Prototype 2 will receive an engine with a capacity of 300 liters already.c. and the EASA CS-23 certificate. Such a device will be able to move in the air at a speed of up to 300 km/h with a flight range of up to 1000 km.
