Dozens of octopi invaded British beaches. Scientists are trying to figure out why it happened.
Invasion of the octopus found on Friday evening on the Welsh coast on the beach of Ceredigion. The average length of marine species was approximately 50 centimeters. Octopus can be rarely found on land. And the fact that they came ashore in such numbers is evidence of the unusual phenomenon.
Witness Brett stones, which organizes in the Bay Cardigan swimming with dolphins, told channel bi-Bi-si:
"It was like the end of the world. The beach crawled about 20-25 octopus. I've never seen them in such numbers on the ground!"
As explained by Brett, he tried to return back in the water as much octopus as I could, but in the morning still found many dead animals on the shore.
Because of the excessive catch of cod from the Atlantic, which feeds on kinky octopus, to judge the growth of a population of mollusks in recent years. However, why they washed up in one place in such large numbers, it is not yet clear.
