UFO. Russia

In October of this year 2014, one of the residents of Trubchevsk (Bryansk region), Sergey Konovalov, addressed the forum of the public organization "Kosmopoisk", who reported on the history of recent UFO sightings in his hometown that interested him. He learned about it from his friend, who accidentally heard this story from his neighbors in the garage - direct eyewitnesses. That is, second-hand. To us, it turns out, the story has already fallen from the hands of third parties. 

The essence of the story is as follows. On October 23, three men vacationing in a dacha village near the northern outskirts of Trubchevsk witnessed the takeoff from a ravine and the disappearance of a large glowing ball. Guided by the descriptions received, Sergey independently calculated the approximate place of events and sent the photos taken there. Unfortunately, it was not possible to conduct a survey of direct eyewitnesses due to the lack of their contact details. It was possible to catch them only by chance in garages. 

This case is interesting because it involves the "landing" or low hovering of UFOs above the ground, which in ufo practice has become very rare, not only in recent years, but also in the last decade or two. In such cases, there is a possibility that the observed objects or phenomena could leave certain physical traces of environmental impact, which is a very important aspect of practical research in order to determine the nature of these phenomena. 

The lack of an opportunity to interview eyewitnesses at the observation site is a big drawback, but in order to collect additional information on this case and information on other observations in the Trubchevsky district, it was decided to organize a trip to the Bryansk region. The trip was conducted on November 15-16, 2014 by a group of four people (from Minsk, Brest, Moscow and Smolensk). During it, the person closest to the source of information was interviewed — the same neighbor of the eyewitnesses in the garages. Here is a transcript of his story from a dictaphone recording: 

"As they said, they came to the dacha for potatoes. The three of us. They didn't come, but came by car. They drank. And they haven't finished yet. One, of course, did not drink — he was driving. They say it was already a little dark. And they noticed a light in the moat, like a glow, as it is not clear what is burning. Let's go see what it is... yellowish, bluish. Exited. They began to approach. We haven't reached the moat yet and saw something like a ball like that. And I didn't understand: either they were illuminated by a beam, or a reflection from the ball, or they did it out of fear. We, Grit, all three of us fell. And he began to climb the hill-climb and went out. Kind of quit glowing. There was no sound, no noise, no hubbub... there was nothing. And they, grit, rushed to the car, and forgot to close the cottage, in the morning they went to close it. And I came to the garage, and they tell me. Well, I caught a glimpse, not that I talked to them, but I caught a glimpse of it. One works in Moscow, and I know those… Well, how can I say I know… That's how we say hello, but I don't know what their name is." 

We visited the supposed place of the described events, planned by our guide — Sergey Konovalov. As already mentioned above, this is a ravine, which is, apparently, the dried-up bed of a former tributary river flowing near the city of Desna. The section of the ravine that interested us is located behind a country village located north of the village of Progress. It was a wide flat bottom of the ravine, bordered by rather steep slopes and overgrown with vegetation typical of flood meadows, interspersed in places with shrubs and sparse trees. 

We were shown a small irregularly shaped platform with crushed dead wood. In the center of it was a pit partially filled with water. A bush grew on its edge, indicating its ancient origin. Near the pit — a puny birch with a twisted trunk at the base. A meter from the pit under the tree is a hill of soil removed from it, already overgrown with vegetation. In principle, no visible traces were found that could be reliably linked to the case of UFO sightings. Nearby in the ravine there were other rounded areas with crushed vegetation. It was hardly possible to attribute an anomalous origin to them. Visual inspection of the nearest sections of the ravine did not reveal anything unusual. Thus, without the testimony of eyewitnesses, it is not necessary to talk about the exact localization of the place of the event under discussion. 

Just in case, an express survey of the site indicated by the conductor was conducted. Radiometric measurements were carried out with two RKSB-104 dosimeters along the profile laid through the site in increments of 5 meters, soil samples were taken at four points. Also involved were: a compass to search for places of magnetic anomalies, a tungsten sensor, devices for measuring the parameters of electromagnetic radiation - BE-meter-st-002 (5Hz - 400kHz) and "Pulse" (20Hz - 2kHz). No abnormal deviations could be detected. If the upcoming study of the soil samples taken gives interesting results, they will be published in a separate article.
