A young Englishwoman during a trip to Germany in 1814 visited a castle near Darmstadt.
The building of the XIII century belonged to an unknown Frankenstein family and was located in the Odenwald forest. Inspired by the legends of the mystical castle, Mary Godwin Shelley wrote a novel called Frankenstein, or the New Prometheus. So there was a story about the terrible Dr. Frankenstein, who invented a monster in the castle laboratory.
Locals often talked about an alchemist named Johann Konrad Dippel. He was born directly in this castle. Dippel was a naturalist and theologian who was often accused of heresy and even sentenced to seven years in prison. Rumor has it that he also studied anatomy. The remains from the graves he dug up served as the material for the experiments. Residents of neighboring villages and peasants were horrified by the sight of the Dippel, because they believed that it transplanted souls from body to body. It is believed that he even managed to revive a dead man once for a short time.
Many people want to get into the castle because of the high level of paranormal activity.
Participants of the famous Ghost Hunters International show were able to decipher the mysterious whisper that comes from the chapel at night. These are phrases in the oldest German language: "Arbo is here" and "come here."
