Initial data
Legends of local Indians claim that the lake was created by a deity named Llao, who once rained fire on the earth in a great rage and where the largest "fire core" fell, this lake was formed.
Modern scientists believe that the lake is not meteoritic, but volcanic nature and that these are the remains of an old collapsed volcano.
Strange stories have been associated with this place for hundreds of years, but the real chronology of observations of the lake and its surroundings appeared when two forest rangers, brothers Larry and Lloyd Smith, came to work here in 1959.
When the brothers heard some curious local stories, they were completely captivated by the energy of this place and began to collect all such strange cases, rumors, gossip and first-hand stories.
They did not just collect them, but regularly published collections for the public. So was born Chronological history of the Smith Brothers Crater Lake, which included the most interesting local observations from 1828 to 2009.
And among these observations, you can find stories that hairy tall Yeti humanoids were regularly observed in these places. The first such note is dated June 8 or 9, 1976:
"George Morrison, the park's chief naturalist, spotted a Bigfoot creature crossing South Road at dusk and heading into Annie Creek Canyon. After taking only four steps, the upright creature crossed the road.
Because of the distance and the shade of the trees, it was difficult to see him in more detail, and then Morrison could not find any traces of him. George Morrison is an experienced ornithologist and has a lot of experience observing nature. And Morrison was deeply shocked by what he saw."
In subsequent years, similar reports were recorded.
In the Smith chronology, you can find other strange cases in the forest by the lake, although there are no descriptions of yeti and it is difficult to say whether these cases were related to yeti or something else.
One thing is clear: most of the eyewitnesses were forest workers, rangers or wildlife specialists, and if they admitted that they saw something strange in the Crater Lake, it's hard to just ignore their words.
