SpaceX's Starship rocket exploded over the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, April 20, a few minutes after taking off from a site in South Texas.
Before the launch, the company's founder, Elon Musk, stated that it may take several attempts before Starship can successfully pass this test flight.
Once the engineers determine what went wrong, they will be able to make changes to the test flights of other prototypes. Starship, which are almost ready to launch.
It is noted that the explosion Starship in the air was not the worst outcome possible — an explosion on the launch pad would require serious infrastructure repairs.
However, the failure raises questions about how soon SpaceX will be able to prepare a rocket for use during NASA's lunar mission. It will require a series of successful launches Starship in a short period of time, not only to launch a lunar spacecraft, but also to transport enough fuel to reach the lunar orbit, from where the NASA crew will be able to descend to the surface of the Moon.
