The pub, so old that it has become a permanent refuge for psychic detectives, exudes two strange smells, the origin of which the owner cannot explain.
Ye Olde Leathern Bottle restaurant in Wednesbury, West Midlands, dates back to 1510 AD, when it was built as a carriage house, which for several centuries supposedly housed the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin.
Today, 34-year-old landlord Carl Sylvester says he spends too much time among the fancy booze to believe that the pub is teeming with spirits, as it would scare him day and night.
However, no matter how skeptical Carl may be about ghosts, he cannot deny that there is no reason for the daily smell of toast and paint coming from the old pub.
Karl, who headed Ye Olde Leathern Bottelin in January 2019, said BlackCountryLive
"I heard some things, especially in the basement," he said. "I heard the tapping and ticking of some barrels. Personally, I didn't see anything, but we have a normal psychic night. Just before Covid, one of the mediums sent me a photo and said there was a little girl standing at the door."
