Initial data
Ivan Ivanovich Barsuchenko (retired pilot, born in 1917) writes:
In 1981, from May 10 to 11, at about one o'clock in the morning, we were fishing on the Mge River, opposite the dacha village (now the Kirov Regional Executive Committee) and the gardening plant named after him. Lenin. The weather was calm, the wind was northwest. The stars were visible in the sky. Suddenly, at a distance of 2-3 km from the earth and 5-8 km away from us in the northwest, we saw a fireball in the sky that was smaller than the moon. The radius is approximately 70 cm. The balloon was emitting gas in 2 directions with a fountain and was moving towards us. There was no smell or sound. Before reaching us 5 km, the ball stopped emitting gas and stopped glowing. Instead of a ball, a black spot appeared, like an oak leaf cut off. The spot began to spread, and we noticed that the small ball was moving away in the opposite direction, and the clouds (gas) spread out and passed over us in the form of stripes. We had unpleasant feelings, probably because we decided that these were poisonous gases. The speed was 5-6 m/sec.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
