Initial data
Martynov V.Ya. and Plotnikov V.S. write to the Commission on AYA.:
It happened in the summer of 1966-1967, at 20 o'clock, in the city of Gubkin, Belgorod region.
In the northwestern part of the sky, we noticed a ball about 1 \ 20 of the size of the solar disk, the color of bright yellow (slightly darker than the color of the Sun in the daytime). The disk (ball) hung almost motionless. A small halo of no more than 3 diameters of the observed was observed around it. the observation was conducted approximately at an angle of 30 degrees relative to the horizon.
there were cumulus clouds in the sky, but the glow was observed even when the ball was covered by a cloud. The color was smoky, whitish. The observation was not continuous, and at times, and therefore it is difficult to say about the time of observation, but it was about 15-30 minutes.
During this time, the ball slowly shifted parallel to the horizon line in a northerly direction and at some point abruptly changed its trajectory, began to descend zigzag to the ground, and then disappeared. at the same time, the brightness of the glow gradually decreased, as did its size.
the observation was conducted by a group of 4-5 people.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
