Initial data
Decommissioning of an unusual phenomenon in the sky observed in the village of Lakhkolampi in the Suoyarva district of the Karelian ASSR on October 17, 1978.
During a business trip on October 17, 1978, at 18-10 (Moscow time) in the village of Lakhkolavti, we, the head of the hydrographic party of the Karelian Hydroenegobservation Hagerg P.O. and the hydrological engineer of the Petrozavodsk lake station Filin V.N., observed a luminous object in an easterly direction for 30-40 seconds, at an angle of 40-50 ° from the horizon.
The object was observed as a luminous ball of 1/4 the size of the full moon. His light was like the light of a milky-white lantern in a fog.
Radial "rays" radiated from the object. The rays were observed as dusty, faintly luminous, moreover, the intensity of their glow changed slightly and was 4-5 times weaker than the observed object.
On the north side, a faintly luminous, blurred oval-shaped cloud resembling the contrail of an airplane adjoined the luminous object - ball. The intensity of its glow, as well as the "rays", slightly changed. The intensity of the glow of the "object" ball did not change during the observation. At the end of the observation (after 30-40 seconds), the intensity of its glow began to decrease and within 3-5 seconds the ball gradually disappeared from view, as if melting into the air. After his disappearance, 5-7 seconds. "rays" and a cloud were observed. Then they disappeared too.
Together with us, this phenomenon was also observed by N.K. Krylov, a hydrologist technician at the Petrozavodsk Lake Hydrometeorology.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
