Initial data
Bulgakov Sergey Frolovich writes to the Commission on AI:
The phenomenon that I and my six companions saw is so unusual and striking that we nevertheless decided to send a description of it to you. We hope that we can be useful and would really like to receive an explanation of this phenomenon. Unfortunately, nothing happened on the film, so we are sending you a drawing.
With a detailed article (description of the event) we contacted the newspaper Sovetsky Sakhalin, however, no one could give us an explanation. This phenomenon was seen by 12 people. If necessary, I will forward you the descriptions of each eyewitness.
It happened on June 18, 1982. It was a dark starry night. Inspectors of the Sakhalinrybvoda task force raided the rivers of the Nevelsky district. At about 2 a.m., a car with inspectors stopped for the night east of the village. Lovetskoye, about 2 mk from the sea, or rather, the Tatar Strait. When they began to spread out the sleeping bags, everyone heard the surprised and somewhat distracted voice of the district inspector Ignatov
Y.M.: "What is it?"Everyone's eyes turned to the hill, towards the sea. It seemed to the eyes that the authors of these lines literally "froze on the skin." A hemisphere shone above the hills, shaped like the rising moon, however, of such enormous size that it seemed as if some planet was approaching the earth.
This hemisphere glowed with a dull light, similar to the color of the cloudy daytime sky. Between the heavenly darkness (blackness) and a clear boundary lay like a glowing ball. The ball did not emit any light. It was like a huge light paper circle superimposed on the dark sky.
When the shock of the first impression passed, everyone saw that the ball was slowly growing, however, it grew most intensively up and to the right, i.e. to the north. The more this mysterious "Moon" rose, the paler its light became and the stars began to be seen in the center, above the hills.
Finally, the hemisphere occupied the entire sky and the glow disappeared, as if it had dissolved into bottomless blackness. All this happened within 35 - 40 minutes. We stood stunned, not understanding what kind of mysterious phenomenon we had seen. A breeze blew and everyone started talking at once.
Each of the seven of us noticed that during the passage of the incomprehensible "Moon" in nature there was literally ringing silence, not a breeze, birds tarred, even a small river flowing nearby could not be heard.
The author of these lines tried to photograph this phenomenon, but the hemisphere was so huge,
that the angle of capture of the lens did not accommodate it, and the film with a photosensitivity of 65 units did not capture anything in pitch darkness. What was that? What have we seen? - we asked each other the same question. There was no answer.
The employees of the Sakhalin Observatory of the Hydrometeorological Service have not yet been able to answer this question.
The same phenomenon was seen by the crew of the AN-26 aircraft, located at the same time in Nikolaevsk on Amur.
According to the story of the radio operator Obukhov G., their crew refueled at about 2 a.m.
Suddenly, everyone saw a bright dot that grew rapidly, as if approaching, until eventually it repeated the same thing that we saw on Sakhalin in the Nevelsky district.Perhaps there are still eyewitnesses of this phenomenon. Please respond!
And yet. What was it?
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
