21 June 1947, handyman Harold Dahl (Dahl H. A.) decided to go on the boat with his son Charles and a dog on the Maury island near Tacoma (Washington). According to him, suddenly over the head of holidaymakers there is a strange disc-shaped object about 30 meters in diameter with holes in the middle (or, as he put it the distance, flying doughnuts).
One disk began to wiggle and dropped to an altitude of about 500 feet (150 meters) above the water. A little later he was joined by five other disks, after the first fell into the water, the impact throwing her to the shore many pieces of black lava (or slag). The falling slag wounded Dahl's son and killed his dog. The dog's body was buried at sea, and Charles after his return went to the local hospital for first aid.
Dahl collected on similar slag fragments and took them to his boss, Fred Crisman. A month later they're both already in detail told in an interview about direct contact with aliens, and about what it looks like inside the cockpit of a flying saucer. A couple of weeks Dahl reported that two officers of the U.S. air force took the chip UFO and flew with him to some military base, but their plane exploded in the air. The mechanic and the pilot managed to escape with parachutes, but both officers died, and among the wreckage fragments of the alien ship was never found.
This is one of the most famous cases in UFOlogy, which is considered the first documented contact with an alien civilization (the events took place just three days before the famous case in the Cascade mountains).
In addition, in the description of the incident on Maury island, first mentioned by an unknown person, you are strongly asked to remain silent about the incident. Later this information will be the basis for the idea of "men in black".
But did these events in reality, or in this case is the fabrication of "eyewitnesses", bloated to the level of sensation journalists? Journalists "Tape.ru" has decided to look into this. Here are the main points of the article, which can be found on the link.
The incident at Maury island is considered the starting point of the history of many fakes, fake photos and eyewitness testimony that formed the basis for many of the scenarios of science fiction films.
According to published documents, everything is much more prosaic. The FBI completed the investigation and came to the conclusion that Harold Dahl and Fred Crisman deliberately fanned the story, and then tried to capitalize on his fame and began to demand from publishers the money for publishing their stories.
The FBI had to take over the thing about aliens is largely due to the overwhelming noise in the press, because two eyewitnesses of the crash of an alien spaceship constantly shared new details. For example, immediately after the disaster a military aircraft Dal suddenly remembered, that on Board was a mechanic, who yesterday led a lively conversation about aliens and allegedly tried to get to the bottom.
The investigation revealed that on a military base no mechanic was not expecting. After reports that a man simply did not exist and therefore could not go on carrying a fragment of the plate plane, the journalists unanimously agreed that he disappeared or was kidnapped by the same aliens.
In a secret FBI files it is noted: shortly before the closing of the case, the agents were quite sure that Dal and Crisman lie, and was going to bring them to justice. During the interrogation of one of Dahl's even mentioned that slightly embellished the events, but still insisted on some unknown beings, who forbade him to tell the details of an alien invasion. However, a few years later he confessedthat he had invented the whole story from beginning to end.
Can we consider this case debunked? It's hard to say because there is no photos or video in the study to identify a fake. In fact, the incident based on the testimony of "eyewitnesses" as well as on various documents, some of which referred to the deception. Some people may be sufficient recognition of the facts of lies by Harold Dahl, others say that he could do it under pressure, for example, out of fear for his life.
