Green fireballs or in English "green fireballs" is a different kind of UFO. Peak observations of similar objects is at the end of the forties of the twentieth century.
It is believed that the first observation of this object type documented, took place in late November 1948. However, a more famous case that occurred a few days later, on December 5, 1948: the crew of the military (air force C-47, captain, 9:27 p.m., 10 miles (16 km) East of Albuquerque) and civilian (DC-3, Pioneer Flight 63, 9:35 pm, East of Las Vegas, nm) aircraft claimed to have seen a bright fireball green, who flew in the sky.
Further evidence of such balloons began to meet quite often and was not limited to the territory of the United States. Information about some of the modern observations can be found in the Archive (it will be supplemented by an earlier evidence).
The distinctive features of UFO of this type:
- the color green and its shades;
- sometimes crumble into fragments;
- flying at high speed;
- very bright (sometimes light stronger than a full moon).
Sure, there are ufologists who believe these balls of fire the alien ships, but there are also other, more mundane version.
For example, the appearance of such objects might be related to tests of weapons or the use of pyrotechnics. Researcher Dan Wilson believed that the main area of sightings of green balls were concentrated near nuclear facilities such as Los Alamos and Kirtland AFK, and suggested that they may be associated with nuclear tests.
As example, here is a photo taken during an experimental launch military rockets in December 1946:
However, the most common explanation of UFOs – meteors. In astronomical classification a ball of fire sometimes referred to as a very bright meteor (generally brighter than magnitude -4, which is approximately equal to the same value of brightness of the planet Venus in the morning or evening sky). A special case of this fireball can be called a bolide is a special type of fireball which explodes in a bright terminal flash, often with visible fragmentation.
These celestial objects can be any color, from red to bright blue and even purple (though it's rare). The color depends on the composition and velocity of the meteor. Different chemical elements by evaporation to give different shades of color: sodium – bright yellow, Nickel – green, magnesium – white-blue. A high level of kinetic energy will intensify certain colors compared to others.
If to stay on this version that it remains unclear why the appearance of green balls began to record only from the late forties of the twentieth century, although the fall of meteorites of different sizes fixed on the Ground for several thousand years.
Of course, each individual case can be true any of the above versions.
