We have already mentioned UFO, discovered over Novokhoperskogo "anomalous zone", which was observed with the naked eye and, apparently, was just a reflection of sunlight smooth surfaces of the satellites. But in the same book "UFOs in Voronezh" describes objects that are visible on the radar, but not visible to a person. We will take a closer look.

"ANGELS" AND THE RADAR

Research in the region we are constantly engaged in before, the archive section was enriched not only by the Pamir reports. Our attention was drawn by the Eastern districts of the region, from which it continued to receive reports of radar sightings of unidentified objects. Remaining invisible to the pilots, they flew the planes in the air made the maneuvers, sometimes still hung out at the joints areas of piloting.

Arisen there was a suspicion on failure of hardware quickly dropped: the special Commission gave a definite answer – the equipment is working.

In February of 1985 in Nizhny Novgorod held a seminar on "techniques for study of anomalous phenomena". Voronezh section the TRAVELER has submitted the report "Monitoring of the atmospheric processes on the radar screen" (authors V. Budko, Vladimir Zotov, A. Kopeikin, B. Kudryavtsev), fragments of which in front of you.

"...A special class of radar reflections from meteorological objects that have a common name, "reflection from an optically non-observed objects" ("angels"), has for many years been puzzled researchers. The frequency of observations of such objects has increased with the expansion of the practical use of radar equipment, better receivers, increase in the sizes of antennas and higher power radar transmitters.

The appearance of some reflections of this type are definitely associated with specific weather conditions, and with reflections from birds or swarms of insects. Causes other reflections of this class do not lend themselves to simple explanation.

Research visually invisible entities on the radar screen was conducted by the Voronezh section of the TRAVELER together with representatives of Borisoglebsky flight school.

The statements have stated that often during the day in clear weather while flying to various zones on the screen of the radar observed the mark, not typical for aircraft. It is established that for the most part these marks appear on the joints areas of piloting.

Our research was held during intensive flights may 29, 1984. Was a Sunny hot weather, visibility was good, smoke was absent.

The observations used a radar of the circular review meter and centimeter bands and radio altimeters.

Observations began at 9: 30. At this time, held training flights. In areas piloting was a few planes. The marks of these aircraft on the radar screen confirmed the dispatch service.

On screen meter radar P-12 have an additional mark at a distance of about 50 km, azimuth 170°. Mark was moving in the direction of the North-East at a speed of 150 km/h. The intensity of the reflection was more intensity storm clouds, the front edge of which was in a westerly direction for a distance of about 100 km, and smaller jet aircraft. The speed level was changed, sometimes the mark stayed. The same mark was observed on the screens of all radars.

Measurement on the locator PRV-16 (range-height) showed a height of 4 km. In the future, the main observations were carried out on the screen PRV-16 in manual mode support. In the course of the observations repeatedly made attempts to request, but there was no answer. Experiments were carried out on selectonemenu mark at the time of its stationary state, i.e. include the system of selection of moving targets (MTI). The image marker was not lost. These experiments were performed several times with the same result. By 13 o'clock the direction of movement of the mark began to change frequently, then its observation difficult, and was terminated..."

Attempts experts on the radar of VSU to create a mathematical model of the phenomenon, presenting its physical structure in the form of a whirling cloud of micro-particles, also few people are convinced: this model does not explain the complex nature of the movement of invisible objects. Meanwhile we had information that a UFO in this area appear for a long time and not only on the radar screen.

These traces on the screen of the radar and their behavior is characteristic of the results of the impact on the individual locator passive interference on the radio. These impairments represent radio signals reflected interfering objects when they are irradiated by the probing radar signals. In our case, some optical unobserved objects are creating on the radar screens of illumination, similar marks from the aircraft, slowly moving in space.

Sources of such interference can be objects of biological origin (flocks of birds, swarms of insects) and atmospheric phenomenon (dielectric inhomogeneity, turbulence, etc.), including artificially created (e.g., chaff – strips of foil that are emitted into the space, which, scattered in a cloud on the radar screen looks like plane).

The area where is reflected, and its intensity depend on various factors such as geographical location and weather conditions. Thus, the number of observed passive noise decreases with increasing wind speed.

If you build assumptions about the nature of the observed in our case of interference, it is necessary to pay attention to atmospheric education, specifically on concurrent traces and turbulence.

The piloting zone (as defined by the book) – "zone of the airfield (pilot)" (common definition) – that airspace of established size used for testing the technique of piloting, and other flight missions. On joints such zones can be formed cocurrent traces represent airflow in the form of vortices, breaking away from the wingtips of an airplane. Concurrent tracks - these are the white lines in the sky that remain long after the plane flew.

Cocurrent track is among the most important telltale signs of the aircraft. It's not the sound that is associated with the formation of a trace, and that trace is easier to detect with passive and active monitoring tools. The unit itself can be completely "transparent" to radar, but changes in the atmosphere caused by its flight can be observed with the naked eye. In military aviation it is believed that a concurrent trace – unmasking the limiting factor of the aircraft to the radar, i.e. you cannot create atmospheric aircraft with an effective scattering surface less than that of the concurrent trace. There are also radars that supports the search for turbulent-Wake, they are able to detect not only "Stealth", but aircraft with air-plasma screening.

Perhaps, this hypothesis was meant in the text: "...by presenting its physical structure in the form of a whirling cloud of micro-particles...".

To clarify some of the details, we decided to ask the opinion of a specialist in this area of Nicholas V., who for many years worked on similar installations and whose life fell just at the time described in the book.

From all above we can conclude that initially given in the book is the hypothesis of turbulent flows are quite adequate and, if this issue still actual in modern conditions, it is possible to try to disassemble it.

Thus, is given in the data enough to understand that it was not necessary to multiply entities, calling these objects UFOs – no. In the book itself about the objects stated quite a few and any significant findings, the authors do not.

This leaves a lot of questions to the authors, the answers to which do not exist in the book:

  • indicate the location of invisible objects on the radar, but do not specify the position of the aircraft;
  • not enough descriptions of the dynamics of the movements and appearances of the objects;
  • it is unclear why the studies were conducted in 1984, and a photograph of the screen of the radar from 1989;
  • not specified, all objects appearing at the same altitude, looked the same as photo;
  • it is unknown what measures have been taken to ensure noise immunity of the radar;
  • not given comments to the obtained data of the operators and other specialists.

That is, the book does not give a complete picture, and make conclusions based on given information is impossible.
