December 1997 - A black triangle is seen.
The large bright light, which appeared to have a black triangular wing protruding from the side, was visible over the road between the Humber Bridge and the Barnetby Top roundabout.
The "light" was spotted by two people driving from 11.30pm to midnight, flying low at high speed across the road.
Humberside Police confirmed the last time a police helicopter was on the flight was about 10pm that day.
Air traffic controllers at Humberside Airport were also unable to provide an explanation, saying the airport had closed at 9.55pm.
A Humber Coastguard spokesman said a call had been received that evening from a man who said he had seen something black coming out of the sea, about five miles off the Hornsey coast in East Yorkshire. The object was spotted at 9:44 p.m.

December 1997 - Black triangle sighted
The large bright light which appeared to have a black triangular-shaped wing protruding from the side of it was seen above the road between the Humber Bridge and the Barnetby Top roundabout.
The "light'' was seen flying low and at considerable speed across the road by two people travelling in a car between 11.30pm and midnight.
Humberside Police confirmed that the last time the police helicopter had been in flight was at about 10pm that evening and there was nothing to say it had been up in that area.
Air traffic controllers at Humberside Airport could not offer an explanation either, saying that the airport closed at 9.55pm.
A spokesman for the Humber Coastguard said a call had been received that evening from someone who reported seeing something black going out to sea about five miles off the coast of Hornsea in East Yorkshire. The object was seen at 9.44pm.
