Initial data
The terrified mother was sure that her house was haunted when she photographed the "Ghost" in her kitchen.
Naomi Hudson Reid (38), has always felt an uncanny presence in her five-bedroom home in Clyst St Mary, Devon.
The former interior designer was horrified when she heard the sound of doors slamming, footsteps on the floor above, and screeching through the baby monitor as her sons slept.
But she experienced the shock of her life when she took a picture in her kitchen and saw a man's face with a receding hairline, a big nose and narrow eyes.
She said:
"I used to feel uncomfortable in my home. I was convinced that there were ghosts, but actually seeing a face so clearly was something else entirely. I was terrified.
I almost screamed and dropped my phone, and I had to ask my husband, Gary, if he could see my face, too, and he agreed. It made me even more terrifying.
We are such balanced people and try to always think logically, but since we moved into this house, terrible things continue to happen."
Naomi and her partner Gary, a 46-year-old real estate developer, heard footsteps in the mansion almost immediately after they moved in two years ago.
And since they have children, Harriso (two years old) and Hudson (one year) they often hear screams and screams through the baby monitor.
Naomi said:
"They are loud, but when we go to check on the boys, they are asleep and do not make any noise.
One night, there was such a loud squeal from Harrison's room. It didn't look like he was crying, but I went to check on him anyway.
But when I got there, he was sleeping very soundly in his bunk. I was so excited that I woke Gary up and told him what had happened, but none of us could explain it."
Naomi was convinced that the house they were renovating was haunted, but they didn't have any proof until they noticed the creepy face in the photo.
She added:
"We're getting rid of the' 70s interior that we both hate, and I wanted to show what we did with the kitchen.
I couldn't believe it. His face was only in one photo, and I didn't know how, because I took many pictures in the same place."
The couple thought their youngest son's room was the most creepy place in the house.
Nama said:
"Harrison used to be in this room, but we had to swap the boys because he didn't calm down when he was there.
He cried and cried, and nothing calmed him. His toys also randomly triggered, started playing music and lit up in the middle of the night, which was strange, but it wasn't as if he was playing with them, he would sleep soundly.
When I went into his room, I had a terrible feeling that something or someone was watching me, and I also saw shadows moving around the room out of the corner of my eye.
It was terrible, and I was afraid to leave any of the boys in the room."
But it wasn't just in Hudson's bedroom that Naomi felt an uncanny presence.
She added:
"In the evening, we were sitting in the living room watching TV, and suddenly we heard footsteps in the hallway above us. The boys are too young to walk, so we were afraid that someone had broken in and was coming up the stairs. But when we checked, there was no one there."
The confused couple even checked the inside of their attic to make sure it was completely empty.
At first, Naomi thought that her father's death when she was pregnant might have something to do with the ghosts. But now she thinks the paranormal may be something more sinister.
She said:
"I lost my father when I was pregnant with Harrison in 2017, and I thought maybe it was his presence that we felt in Hudson's room.
Hudson's first word was" dad, "and he always points to the walls in his bedroom and says" dad " over and over again.
At first I thought it might be Hudson's grandfather watching him, but it's not a nice, hopeful feeling, and the face of the person I saw doesn't look like my father either.
I feel cold and uncomfortable, the exact opposite of what it would be if someone close to me was there.
We don't want to move now because we are still doing house repairs. We like how modern it is and what we've done with it."
But Naomi doesn't rule out moving in the future.
She added:
"If the screaming and hitting became permanent, I would move because I want my family to be safe.
After I've photographed this person, I worry about what I'll see or hear next."
Original news
A spooked mum was convinced her house was haunted when she captured a photo of a 'ghost' in her kitchen.
Naomi Hudson Reed, 38, always felt there was a supernatural presence her five-bedroom house in Clyst St Mary, Devon.
The former interior designer was terrified when she heard the sound of doors slamming, footsteps on the floor above and screeching over the baby monitor when her sons were asleep.
But she got the shock of her life when she took a photograph in her kitchen and saw a man's face featuring a receding hairline, large nose and narrow eyes.
She said: "I'd felt uncomfortable in my house before. I was convinced there were ghosts but to actually see a face so clearly is something else. I was terrified.
"I nearly screamed and dropped my phone, I had to ask my husband Gary whether he could see the face too and he agreed. That made it even more scary.
"We're such level-headed people and try to always think logically, but ever since we've moved into this house spooky things keep on happening."
Naomi and her partner Gary, a 46-year-old property developer, heard footsteps in the detached house almost as soon as they moved in two years ago.
And since having their children, Harrison, two, and Hudson, one, they often hear screams and screeches over the baby monitor.
Naomi said: "They're loud but when we go and check on the boys they're asleep and not making any noise.
"One evening the screeching was so intense from Harrison's room. It didn't sound like him crying but I went to check on him anyway.
"But when I got there he was asleep in his cot in a really heavy sleep. I was so unsettled I woke up Gary and told him what had happened but neither of us could explain it."
Naomi became convinced the house, which they are renovating, was haunted but they did not have any proof until they spotted the spooky face in a picture.
She added: "We're getting rid of the dated 70s interior that we both hate and I wanted to show off what we'd done to the kitchen.
"I couldn't believe it. His face was only in one picture and I didn't understand how as I'd taken loads in the same spot."
The couple believed their youngest son's room felt the spookiest place in the house.
Namoi said: "Harrison used to be in that room but we had to swap the boys around as he wouldn't settle when he was in there.
"He used to cry and cry, nothing would soothe him. His toys would also randomly go off and start playing music and light up in the middle of the night which was weird but it wasn't as if he was playing with them, he'd be fast asleep.
"Going into his room I'd have a horrible feeling that something or someone was watching me and I would also see shadows out the corner of my eye dart around the room.
"It was terrifying and I'd be worried about leaving either of the boys in the room."
But it's not just in Hudson's bedroom that Naomi felt a supernatural presence.
She added: "We'd be in the lounge watching TV in the evening and all of a sudden we'd hear footsteps on the hallway above us.
"The boys are too young to walk so we were terrified that someone had broken in and was walking around upstairs. But when we checked there was no one there."
The confused couple even checked the inside of their loft just to make sure it was completely empty.
At first Naomi thought maybe the death of her dad when she was pregnant could have something to do with the hauntings. But she now believes the paranormal activity could be something more sinister.
She said: "I lost my dad when I was pregnant with Harrison in 2017 and I thought maybe it could be his presence that we were feeling in Hudson's room.
"Hudson's first word was 'dad' and he always points to the walls in his bedroom and says dad over and over.
"At first I thought it could be Hudson's grandfather watching over him but it's not a nice, reassuring feeling at all and the man's face that I saw doesn't look like my father either.
"It feels cold and uncomfortable, the complete opposite of how it would feel if the presence of a loved one were around.
"We wouldn't want to move now as we're still doing up the house. We love how modern it is now and what we've done with it."
But Naomi wouldn't rule out a move in the future.
She added: "If the screaming and the banging became all the time then I'd move as I want my family to be safe.
"After snapping that man's face, I'm worried what I'm going to see or hear next."
Hypotheses
Pareidolic illusion
A variety of visual illusions (the so-called "sensory illusions additions"); is the formation of illusory images, as a basis which are the details of the real object. Thus, the vague and obscure the visual image is perceived as something distinct and defined — for example, figures of people and animals in the clouds, the image of a man on the moon, "a hidden message", audible when you reverse the audio recordings, the shadows formed by leaves or complexes of objects in certain lighting (sometimes at a certain angle).
