A senior official of the Kuwait oil company (KOC) told the Embassy that the UFO, " ... which first appeared over the Northern oil fields, apparently did strange things with Koc's automatic pumping equipment."
This equipment is designed to shut down when a fault occurs that could seriously damage the oil collection and transportation system, and can only be restarted manually.
When the UFO appeared, the pumping station automatically shut down, and when the UFO disappeared, the system started working again.
Eight UFOs were sighted between November 9 and December 14, 1978 in the area of an oil gathering center near Kuwait, Kuwait. The government appointed a Committee of experts from the Kuwait Institute of scientific research to investigate.
A spokesman for the Institute, Ratib Abu EID, told us Embassy officials that they rejected the idea of spy devices and did not know enough about the subject to rule out spaceships.
