Initial data
Alex Driscoll, 9, was walking down Gammons lane to school when he saw a bird-like creature 6ft (1.8 m) tall or taller standing outside a gate at the side of the house.
The gate was about 18 inches (45.72 cm) off the ground and about 5 or 6 feet (1.5-1.8 m) high, so all he could see were the feet and lower legs under the gate, and the neck and head above the fence.
At first Driscoll thought it was someone in a suit, until he saw its paws, webbed and orange, like the paws of a giant duck. It had no feathers, only thick black fur on its head and, Driscoll assumed, on its body. His face looked like the "Big bird" character from sesame Street, except for the fur. It had an orange beak, bigger than a duck's.
The witness left the place and did not see the strange creature leave.
