An eyewitness from the city of Schiedam writes:
I woke up to a bright light in my room, and when I discovered where it was coming from, I saw a flashing orange plume coming from the object.
At first I thought the plane was in distress, but the flame quickly turned into a burning point of light (like the back of a jet fighter or something), and the object calmly continued to orbit.
I started shooting it, but couldn't get my phone's camera set up properly, and then I had to find where the object was, and unfortunately that made it much further up in the air. It was difficult for me to estimate the altitude, but I estimated that it was much higher than that of the planes that usually land in the direction of Rotterdam Airport. The strange thing is that there was no sound at all.
Usually you will end up also hearing the sound of planes flying very high.

SCHIEDAM, ZH — Ik werd wakker van een fel licht in mijn kamer en toen ik vond waar het vandaan kwam zag ik een oranje achtige fakkelende pluim van een object komen. Ik dacht eerst dat er een vliegtuig in nood was, maar de vlam werd er snel een brandend lichtpunt (zoals de achterkant van een straaljager ofzo) en het object vervolgde rustig z'n baan. Ik ben het gaan filmen maar kreeg m'n Phone camera niet gelijk aan en toen moest ik zoeken waar het object was, en daardoor was het al een stuk verder weg in de lucht helaas. De hoogte vond ik moeilijk in te schatten, maar ik schat in dat het wel een stuk hoger was dan de vliegtuigen die normaal landen richting rotterdam airport. Het vreemde is dat er totaal geen geluid was. Meestal hoor je uiteindelijk ook het geluid van vliegtuigen die heel hoog overvliegen. Anderen zouden het gezien kunnen hebben, vooral vanwege het felle licht wat er even was.

Space debris
