Jason's father asked a friend what his mother's words "your little green man"meant. The latter, somewhat embarrassed, told him a story that had happened the year before, in the summer of 1958. That day, after work, he was driving his car home.

While driving in the Cannock Chase area, a friend of my father's suddenly saw something short run across the road in front of his car, stopped for a moment and quickly disappeared into the woods. Startled, he braked to a stop as he got a good look at the creature — a small, hairy green man.

Jason first heard the story when he was only nine or ten years old. At the time, he thought it was cool, but when he grew up, he began to think that all such stories were just fairy tales.

But one day Hill Jr. brought up this topic in a conversation with his friend, and he unexpectedly told him that he had also seen such a creature. The incident took place when a friend of Jason's was driving past the old German cemetery in Cannock Chase. As he passed under the overhanging branches of the trees, something fell from above with a light thud on the trunk of the car.

The friend thought it was a branch, but when he looked in the rearview mirror, he noticed that something small and hairy, like drawings depicting forest spirits, flashed there for a couple of moments.
