Initial data
In November 2008, a series of unusual sightings took place in Wanstead, a suburban area of London. According to eyewitnesses, a strange short creature was seen wandering around the Epping Forest Park. This wooded area appeared there in the XII century and was called the Royal Forest of Henry III.
The first creature met 18-year-old Michael Kent, who came to the park with his father and brother on a fishing trip. In the area of the ponds, he heard a rustle behind him. Turning, Michael saw something hairy and no more than a meter tall running briskly on two legs into the thicket.
The next witness was a certain Irene Dainty, who almost collided head-on with this creature on the Woodford Bridge.
She told me:
— I came out of the house and turned the corner, and suddenly I was in front of this hairy creature. It was just over a meter tall and had very large feet. The eyes on the face were like the eyes of an animal. It easily jumped over the fence and headed towards the Three Jolly Wheelers pub. And I was so scared that I ran to my neighbor and told her what I had seen. She didn't believe me, of course, and said I must have had too much to drink. But I didn't drink at all, and there was time
— it's only three o'clock in the afternoon, early even for a beer in the pub.
Later, several more similar messages came from the park and its surroundings. Again, speculation was made about an escaped monkey from a private zoo, but there were no reports of missing animals. After a few days, the creature disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared.
