Jason's father in the 1950s lived in a certain town near the town of Cannock Chase in Staffordshire, reputed to be one of the most active anomalous zones in the UK. One day, Jason's father dropped by to visit a friend. At one point, the friend's mother, who was reading the press on the lower floor, shouted:
"Look! There's an article in the paper about your little green man."
The owner of the house came down and saw in the newspaper an article about a girl from the neighboring district, Pie Green, who ran home in tears and said that she was frightened by a short green man.
Jason's father asked a friend what his mother's words "your little green man"meant. The latter, somewhat embarrassed, told him a story that had happened the year before, in the summer of 1958.
