The witness was woken up by his German Shepherd, who came to get him out of bed. She wouldn't stop barking in the backyard. She wanted the witness to go through the back door.
As he passed through the kitchen, he stopped and saw a whitish-blue light coming through the window in the doors and back windows. He had never seen such lights before, and he thought it must be a helicopter looking for someone. However, he didn't hear a sound and thought it was strange.
The witness (a retired police officer) felt uncomfortable, so he went back to the bedroom to get the gun, which is always loaded. Then he went back to the kitchen and opened the back door, at which point the lights just went out. He looked around the courtyard, looked up to where the light was, and saw a very dark, dim black triangle above him. It wasn't burning at the time.
The object, which seemed to measure the width of its yard (50 feet or 15 m), just hovered there, not moving. Then he heard a noise in the direction of the back fence and looked in that direction. Then he remembered his flashlight and was following it out of the kitchen drawer when he heard a sound in the hallway behind him.
It looked like some kind of animal (two clicks), so he shone the flashlight there for a few seconds, but saw nothing. Then he went back to the back porch and pointed the flashlight in the direction of the noise he heard outside, and saw a very strange, short (about 4 feet or 1.2 m), gray, humanoid creature with large eyes standing there and looking at him for a second or two. He just disappeared.
Then he looked up and saw that the ship had also disappeared - he had not seen it fly away. He stood there, frozen with fear. His dog didn't go outside, which was not normal behavior.
His first impulse was to dial 911 and go to the phone, but when he picked it up, he hung up again. He knew everyone in the police force, and even though they had received several reports of UFOs in the past, he knew they would think he was crazy. Then he locked up the whole house and went to the bathroom, not thinking about the noise he had heard in the house earlier, until the morning. His wife was fast asleep, and he didn't wake her up or tell her what had happened.
He thought he was only gone for 10-15 minutes, but when he looked at his watch, it read 04: 46. He doesn't know what happened to the time, in the morning he also had a red sunburn on his face, neck and arms.
