Initial data
In December 1921, the New York Times newspaper reported an incident on board the German steamer Brechsee, which had entered the port of Horsens in Denmark the day before.
The night before, the captain, making his traditional round of the ship, saw a man on the deck fighting with what the newspapers later called "an unknown and invisible creature". Before the captain's eyes, a 4-inch (10.16 cm) long wound appeared on the forehead of the struggling man, similar to a wound from a knife strike. After that, the victim fell unconscious on the deck.
In the captain's cabin, during a medical examination, other wounds were opened to the shocked witnesses, and the clothes above them remained intact.
