Here 's what the Chita hunter Valery Sukharev told:
"It happened in 1954. My brother and I hunted and spent all the winter months in the taiga. One evening an unknown hunter knocked at our winter quarters. As usual, we offered him hot tea and food. But he refused, without undressing, sat down by the stove, and dozed off. We decided that he was unwell - he shuddered in his sleep, muttered something, his face was covered with some brown spots...
Later, when the guest agreed to eat and took off his mittens, we saw that one of his hands was bandaged with dirty rags. After talking, the hunter said that he really got sick, was making his way to the doctors in the city and that a strange illness had happened to him - his right hand was burning with fire in the truest sense.
He unwound the bandages, we screwed on the wick of the kerosene stove and saw that our guest's right palm really glows in the dark. Moreover, radiance, similar to the flame of an acetylene torch, flowed from the fingertips.
- Does it hurt? we asked.
"No," he said.
The strange spots on his face also glowed-only very faintly. It was only in total darkness, when we had already gone to bed, that we discovered this. He himself, apparently, did not even suspect this.
In the morning, the hunter said goodbye and left.
What was that? Radiation? Blood poisoning? Some kind of germs?
Unlikely. The fact is that the glow emanating from his hand was almost hot-not like a real fire, but somewhere close. When our guest put his hand on the newspaper that covered the table, it turned yellow in this place and became brittle, as if it had been exposed to temperature or acid ..." (Valery Nikolaev).
