Initial data
In November 2011, Latoya Ammons, her mother Rosa Campbell and her three children aged 7, 9 and 12 moved into a house located at 3860 Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana. A few days after the family moved in, they stated that in December, midges swarmed on the porch, which continued to return even after the family believed they had been killed.
At first, Campbell heard footsteps in the basement and the creaking of doors. She later claimed to have seen a "shadowy figure of a man walking around the living room" and found a "boot print." Campbell claimed that she was strangled by an unknown force. It is alleged that the 12-year-old daughter of Ammons levitated over her bed unconscious during a sleepover with a friend. They say they prayed until the girl returned to bed. The daughter did not remember anything about this incident. An unknown force allegedly threw the eldest son across the room. The youngest son allegedly rolled his eyes at the back of his head and growled, saying: "it's time to die" and "I'll kill you."
The family went to their doctor Jeffrey Onyukwu on April 19, 2012. When he visited the house during the alleged harassment, he noted that their behavior was "delusional." Someone from his office contacted the police, after the police arrived, the children were taken to the hospital. The older boy was described as acting rationally, while the younger boy was "screaming and tossing around."
In 2012 The Department of Children's Affairs (DCS) has been alerted about the family. The DCS believed that the children were performing for their mother. In sensational articles published in such publications as The New York Daily News reported that DCS employees allegedly witnessed the younger boy "walking backwards along the wall." 37-year-old police Captain Charles Austin believed that paranormal phenomena had occurred in the house. A photo published by the Indianapolis Star claimed to show a "shadowy figure" when no one was home.
The family hired Father Michael Maginot for an exorcism . He interviewed the family on April 22, 2012 and came to the conclusion that they were "tormented by demons." In the end, he performed three exorcisms, two in English and one in Latin. One exorcism was performed on Latoya Ammons.
