Reports say he was discovered by a passerby on a beach near Green Head on the Mid-West Coast of Western Australia on Sunday afternoon.

Original news

A two-metre tall metal cylindrical object with wires hanging from it that has washed up on Australian beach has baffled authorities.

Cops said they are liaising with the Australian Defence Force in the investigation, added that they "cannot confirm" whether military departments were involved with the origin of the item.

It was found by a passer-by on a beach near Green Head in Western Australia's Mid West Coast on Sunday afternoon, reports stated.

"An item has washed up on the beach near Green Head," police said. "At this time Water Police are trying to identify type and origin of the item."

Authorities said that the large metal item "did not originate from a commercial aircraft" as police guard it and urge people to stay away.

"Officers are liaising with national maritime partners to identify the item," a police spokesman said.

They added: "We want to reassure the community that we are actively engaged in a collaborative effort with various state and federal agencies to determine the object’s origin and nature.

"The investigation is ongoing, and until further information is available, we urge everyone to refrain from drawing conclusions."

Police added that the object is being treated as hazardous, until the origin of it can be established.

Police added: "People in the area should keep a safe distance. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this investigation."

Some reports in Australia stated that Australian Defence Force personnel detonated the device, which was later found to be a marker marine flare.

These are pyrotechnic devices designed to be dispensed from helicopters and rescue aircraft to indicate ship or crew positions in the sea.

But, as of Monday morning Western Australia Police said they were unable to confirm any other details regarding the object.

Space debris

By space junk refers to all manmade objects and their fragments in space, which is already faulty, not functioning, and will never be able to serve any useful purpose. Currently in low earth orbits up to altitudes of about 2000 km is, according to various estimates, about 220 thousand (300 thousand according to the UN office for outer space Affairs, October 2009) man-made objects weighing up to 5000 tons.

Presumably, this is part of the PSLV (Indian launch vehicle). According to commentators on reddit, the cable channel fasteners and the upper mounting ring are exactly the same as the wound composite material.

News: Scientists have identified a mysterious object that washed up on a beach in Australia

In mid-July, a two-meter rusty metal tank covered with balusters was discovered on the beach by a resident of the village of Green Head. Local police handed over the strange object to the Australian Space Agency for identification.

Scientists examined the object and stated that it was the third stage of the Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.

The space Agency also stated that its owner should dispose of this part of the rocket, so the fate of space debris will be decided jointly with the Indian side.
