I read your article in the newspaper "Trud" from 30.01.85, which was called "exactly at 4.10" and decided to write to you. To admit, I wanted to write to you back in May last year, but I didn't know where to write, and I thought that they would laugh at me and that would be the end of it. But your article gave me the impetus to write to you and share what I know.

From February to May 1984, I was on a business trip to friendly Mongolia in one of the aviation units, near the town of Nalaikha, and I witnessed, albeit indirectly, a case like the one you described.

And it happened somewhere around the May 1 holiday. I went to bed around 10 p.m. local time. It was very cold in the room and I had half-covered the window with a blanket. Suddenly I saw that the upper part of the window was illuminated by a bright light. I quickly ran to the window, and, pushing aside the blanket, looked out into the street. The window of my room faced north and I saw that the whole town and its surroundings were illuminated by a very powerful, dense, bluish light. It was brighter than during the day, the light fell to the left, from the western side of the nearest hills.

I will try to show you this in the drawing. Then the light went out, I ran into another room, the windows of which looked towards the hills, but I didn't know where to look at the hills, closer to the town or to the sky. The other comrades of our apartment were already asleep and didn't see anything. In the morning, when we arrived at the laboratory, I asked everyone if anyone had seen this glow and what would it mean?

Lieutenant Alexander Lavrienko told me this. he was not sleeping at that time, but was listening to a tape recorder with light music. He was standing near the window and smoking. The windows of his apartment face west. Suddenly his attention was attracted by an object in the form of a large glowing star. He noticed that this object was moving rapidly towards the town, rapidly increasing in size, from which it was not difficult to understand that its speed was great.

The object was an ellipse flattened from above and below, glowing and at the edges, as if in a purple halo. Multicolored lights seemed to twinkle around the perimeter of it. the object hung motionless in one place, then a strong beam of light fell from it down to the ground, then the beam began to rise and illuminated our entire town. So he lit for 6-7 seconds and went out. The object flew again very quickly in the reverse direction, rapidly decreasing in size, then turned into a bright glowing dot and completely disappeared from sight.

Lieutenant Lavrienko himself can confirm what I wrote to you, perhaps he will more accurately recall the date and time of this event and supplement the story with facts, because he is an eyewitness. I told this story word for word in May last year to my relatives and friends, they can confirm this, otherwise you may get the impression that I read your article and my imagination leapt. I don't hide the fact that many people listened skeptically, laughed, it was clear that they didn't really believe what I was telling, that's why I didn't write anywhere.

I always look for and read with interest the material where something is written about such mysterious phenomena and, of course, our case was very unusual, I had never read anything like that before. Therefore, when I started reading your article, I was literally dumbfounded, because the case is completely identical, and, most importantly, it rehabilitates me in the eyes of those to whom I told this case. There was another case in my life, it was about 3 years ago before the new year. I left the factory at about 17 o'clock and came to the bus stop, decided to go to the center. cities. it was very cold and dark outside, and the wind was driving clouds across the sky. and now, in the west, near the horizon to the right of our refinery, I saw a yellowish-orange ellipse. At first I thought it was the moon, but I thought, why then such a shape. looking to the southeast, the moon peeked through the gaps in the clouds. And this object hung in one place and the clouds then covered it, then it became visible again. Then the bus came up and I thought I would watch from the bus, but there were a lot of passengers on the bus and the windows were very frozen. I shared what I saw only with my family. there were two more cases in my life, but these are of a different nature and they obviously relate to atmospheric electrical phenomena.
