Initial data
The message of L.I. Verenkova about the observation of an unusual phenomenon in the area of the Red Village of Leningrad.
On September 12, 1985, my husband and I were driving back to Leningrad. We drove through the central part of Krasnoye Selo at about 22.00. Suddenly, from the left side and somewhat ahead in the direction of movement, I saw a bright sheaf of yellow-white light against a dark sky. The light came from an elliptical object of 1/2 -1/3 the diameter of the moon glowing with a white uniform color.
The "ellipse" was observed at an angle of 40-45° to the horizon. The lateral contours of the light cone were rosary beads, its lower part was blurred into a small area of yellow glow, turning into a less bright oval spot of blue-blue color. The phenomenon was perceived as a flat formation located in a static state at a high altitude. After a few minutes, the "ellipse" went out, the light cone and the yellow spot went out just as quickly (the cone disappeared from top to bottom), and the blue spot glowed for another half a minute, and then gradually began to fade and dissipate.
The total observation time was about 1 hour. Unfortunately, I could not determine the direction of this glow. The weather was good during the day.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
