It happened on January 31 at 8:50 in the big swamps near the village of Fornosovo, Leningrad region. My father, Boris Ivanovich Kharlamov, exported peat from those swamps. While he was standing under the loading of peat, two more drivers got into his cab: Maximov I.P. and Schmidt S.P. Suddenly they saw a small yellow cloud over the forest, which was rapidly approaching. Then some kind of black core with elongated edges began to take shape, there was a large yellow-green tail behind. They even suggested that it was a "flying saucer", but two of them laughed (they hadn't read the newspaper reports yet).
This body moved sideways somehow. Then it stopped, turned around, released a huge column of this yellow-green vapor and began to abruptly move away. What it was, none of these men could say.
It is very difficult to say what its dimensions were. When my father told me all this, I gave him a newspaper to read, he was very surprised by the similarity of this object.

For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
