Initial data
Lake Tianchi is sometimes referred to as "China's Loch Ness" because it is supposedly home to a large creature or group of creatures that have been reported since at least the early twentieth century.
Like the Scottish Nessie, eyewitnesses often describe the Tianchi monster as a creature with a long neck and an elongated muzzle that bears a suspicious resemblance to an extinct ancient sea lizard similar to a plesiosaur.
There are very few photo or video evidence confirming the existence of a large living creature in Tianchi. Scientists are still skeptical, suggesting that eyewitnesses could have mistaken a large fish or logs for the alleged creature.
However, a new video has recently appeared (see below), which depicts something clearly different from a log, and shows a serpentine and long creature.
According to a tourist named Lee, who shot this video, the length of the snake-like creature was approximately 15 meters (50 feet).
On August 31, 2023, Li visited Tianchi Lake in Xinjiang and was walking along the shore at about 16:00 when she suddenly heard a loud splash. As she approached, she noticed a long dark object moving through the water about 180 meters away from her.
Ripples and light waves trailed behind the object as it moved. Lee quickly took out her smartphone and started recording. After about 10 seconds, the ripples dissipated, and the surface of the lake returned to its calm and peaceful state.
"At first I thought it might be a school of fish, but on closer inspection it turned out that it was just one long silver-colored creature. He moved fast, with rhythmic movements."
Lee showed the footage to local workers, but they couldn't identify the creature or even tell if it was a fish, a snake or something else. At the same time, they said that in previous years they had also been informed about the observation of such a creature in the lake by other tourists.
"With a vivid imagination, you can imagine a lot. We hope that there is a creature in the water that can satisfy everyone's curiosity, but whether it really exists or not is difficult to say," a local official commented on the recording.
It is known that the largest living creature living in the high-altitude lake Tianchi is a local species of trout, reaching a maximum length of 90 cm.
Due to the location of Lake Tianchi in the mountains at an altitude of almost 2 km, dolphins, seals, otters and other large aquatic animals that could be mistaken for a "sea monster" from afar do not swim here.

Lake Tianchi is sometimes referred to as the “Chinese Loch Ness” because it purportedly houses a large creature or group of creatures that have been reported since at least the early twentieth century.

Ripples and gentle waves trailed behind the object as it moved. Li swiftly retrieved her smartphone and began recording. Approximately 10 seconds later, the ripples dissipated, and the lake’s surface returned to its calm and tranquil state.

Standing waves
Standing wave — interference phenomena of waves propagating in opposite directions, in which the energy transfer is weakened or absent.
The elastic body can perform quite complex vibrations for which they contract, stretch, bend and twist. Vibrations of any elastic body can be represented as a combination of overlapping each other over simple normal fluctuations.
